Community
Involvement
The Wichita
Area Chapter strives to make meaningful
contributions to the local legal community
and to the wider community of our city and
state, as well as to the International
Association of Legal Administrations on a
regional and national level.
Legal Community
The Chapter has
partnered with the Wichita Bar Association (WBA)
for many years. Members currently assist
with administrative or organizational needs
by serving on the following WBA committees:
Bar-O-Meter,
Law in Education,
Service to the Bar,
Summer Intern
Program, and
Technology
and are sometimes called upon to make
presentations regarding law office
administration matters. In addition, our organization sells the
advertising slots in the Bar-o-Meter on
behalf of the WBA.
Professional Legal Management WeekSM
(PLMW) provides a forum for recognizing
those in legal management for what they
do and the role they play in the success
of the organization, and in its service
to its clients and those who work in the
organization. The objectives are to
provide awareness, understanding and
education about the legal management
profession, and to increase knowledge of
the diverse roles within the profession.
It is organized by the Association of
Legal Administrators and is co-sponsored
by the ABA Law Practice Management
Section, the American Association of Law
Libraries, Australian Legal Practice
Management Association, the
International Legal Technology
Association, the International Paralegal
Management Association, the Legal
Marketing Association, Managing
Partners’ Forum (MPF) and NALP – The
Association for Legal Career
Professionals. PLMW is celebrated the
first full week in October each year.

Within
the Association of Legal
Administrators organization, Chapter
members can serve in volunteer
positions, as Regional Officers and on
nominating and conference committees,
and a variety of smaller tasks. These
activities add an extra dimension of
growth opportunities.
Our
City
To help
those in need tackle their every day
challenges, the Association of Legal
Administrators (ALA) created its
Community Challenge Weekend (CCW)
program in 1999 where it encourages ALA
chapters, its members, firms, vendors,
relatives and friends to come together
to contribute time, energy and resources
toward improving their own communities.
Each chapter can choose its own cause or
organization to support, or its own
activity to plan.
