Member
Benefits
Membership
has its benefits and WALA, as a member
Chapter of The Association of Legal
Administrators, offers local, regional and
national benefits specifically targeted
at the legal community
Networking
An
important and highly valued component of
membership is networking with other law
office administrators. Chapter members
regularly poll one another via e-mail to
obtain solutions to day-to-day problems.
Informal discussions at meetings add another
avenue of communication to share ideas and
information.
Membership
also includes the
Membership & Peer Consulting Directory which gives its members access
to the expertise of thousands of ALA members
all over the world.
Continuing
Education
A
large part of the chapter's focus is
the education of its members.
Endless possibilities for learning
are available. Life long learning is
an integral part of the profession.
Local opportunities include monthly
meetings and skill building
mini-seminars. Regional and national
opportunities include:
Certification
The
Certified Legal Manager
(CLM)SM
Certification Program is a process
whereby an administrator
demonstrates mastery of the body of
knowledge necessary for successful
performance in managing a law firm
or office. Becoming a Certified
Legal Manager is strictly voluntary,
and is open to all qualified legal
administrators.
Salary Survey
WALA
conducts an annual Salary and
Benefits Survey covering support and
associate attorneys. Results are
compiled by an outside source and
distributed at a nominal charge to
member firms. Non-member firms are
charged a slightly higher fee for
survey results. In addition, ALA
conducts a salary survey annually,
as well.
Management Resources
Among
the resources available to our
members are those provided through
ALA which include:
Foundation of the Association of Legal
Administrators (FALA)
Quest Award
– an award which recognizes a
new member who is involved in a
number of Association activities.
The Wichita Area Chapter of the Association of
Legal Administrators is a separate legal entity from the Association of Legal
